Jobs
We currently have two job advertised - Team Leader (scroll down) and Fundraising Manager.
Play Midlothian is a registered charity (no. SC025474), with an office base at the One Dalkeith Business Hub in central Dalkeith, delivering services throughout Midlothian. Each year, we support over 750 children through over 875 sessions, helping children (and, in some services, their families) to gain skills and confidence, be included and improve wellbeing.
Fundraising Manager
28 hours per week | Hybrid
£36,025 - £38,230 pro rata (35-hour FTE)
We cannot take play for granted – barriers and inequalities can limit children’s access. We work to overturn these and create opportunities where they are needed most, so that every child can experience the play they need to thrive.
We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to help sustain, and, where part of our strategy, grow this work. If you have a track record in securing grant funding, an interest in all forms of fundraising, and excellent communication skills, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
This is a key role at an exciting time for Play Midlothian, as we mark our 30th anniversary and will develop a new website and communications materials.
You will lead on developing and delivering our fundraising strategy, with a strong focus on securing grant income, including from lotteries, trusts and foundations, which currently forms the majority of our funding. Alongside this, you will help us develop other income streams over time, such as individual giving, corporate support and events.
You will be the sole fundraising specialist role at Play Midlothian, however we recognise that effective income generation is supported across the organisation, and you will work in close partnership with the CEO.
How to apply
Please note that if selected for interview, you will also be asked to complete:
-
A task critiquing a short, past application of ours (to be completed the evening before interview and discussed at interview)
-
A short writing task during the interview, responding to an application question using information we provide
An application pack can be downloaded via the earlier download button. Please apply using the online form at https://forms.office.com/e/kewAWwD7v3. Please do not send CVs as these will not be accepted.
The application deadline is midnight Monday 25 May 2026
Interviews will take place on Monday 1 June 2026
Team Leader
22 hours per week
£28,055 - £29,772 pro rata (35 hour FTE)
Are you passionate about play, and ready to lead the practicalities of delivery?
We are seeking a Team Leader to coordinate and deliver high-quality, self-directed play opportunities across Midlothian. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining practical delivery with day-to-day coordination and line management of a small team.
About the Role
On appointment, the postholder will lead Out2Play, using the play rangers model of delivery to enable children to play out in greenspaces close to their homes.
The postholder will also staff other sessions run by Play Midlothian. We champion adventurous, self-directed play, with a focus on loose parts, and use varied community settings to create rich play opportunities. A high proportion of sessions take place outdoors, all year round.
Travel and transportation of play resources to multiple sites across Midlothian is required for successful delivery of our services. Most sessions take place after school hours and at weekends, with some during the school day, so flexibility is required, though we do aim to share out weekend working on a rota pattern so that everyone gets predictable weekends off.
This role would suit someone with playwork, youth work or family support experience who is ready to step into frontline management — or an existing manager looking for a values-led, varied, community-based role.
If you are enthusiastic about enabling children to play in their own ways, we would love to hear from you.
How to apply
The role requires PVG scheme membership for children. The post is subject to the record accessed prior to the post commencing. Play Midlothian will meet this cost for the successful applicant.
Please note that if selected for interview, you will also be asked to attend a play session of up to 1.5 hours in the week leading up to the interview - various day and time options will be available.
An application pack can be downloaded via the earlier download button. Please apply using the online form at https://forms.office.com/e/z5A3nEh6AK. Please do not send CVs as these will not be accepted.
The application deadline is midnight Monday 8 June 2026
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 17 June 2026
